And what a future it is, with new shows and projects being announced with comforting regularity, old faces returning to continue stories of the past and a strong determination to strike out into the future. CBS Chief Creative Officer David Nevins discussed promoting Star Trek at the recent Bank of America Merrill Lynch Communications and Entertainment Conference in Los Angeles. Suffice it to say, the future looks bright.

“We really believe in not only serving inside our own ecosystem but serving people outside. What we’re trying to do right now with Star Trek is build that brand. We want it to get younger and more relevant to people.”

Let's hope the surge to reach younger fans doesn't alienate the older, established fanbase of Star Trek as has happened in that other galaxy far, far away.
