Patrick Stewart chatted with TV Line at San Diego Comic Con, discussing his upcoming role in Star Trek: Picard and made clear his feelings on the return of Jean-Luc.
“I don’t see it as a sequel. That word doesn’t resonate for me. I see it as part of the growth of the whole franchise.”
Encouraging news that while fans will certainly be keen to see familiar faces and places, the show is forging its own path in the franchise, or the Star Trek Universe as we should now call it.
Stewart then looked at the character of Picard and where we find him when audience and Star Trek legend are reunited after almost 20 years.
“His discontent and unsettled nature is present the moment the camera rolled at the beginning, and I hope it will be evident to the audience that all is not well with him,”
