Speaking in the latest issue of Empire, Quentin Tarantino - promoting his latest opus Once Upon A Time In Hollywood - discussed his proposed Star Trek big screen adventure and made it very clear that this adventure isn't one for the kids, opting to follow in the sweary footprints of Star Trek Discovery and use some colourful metaphors.
Tarantino confirmed that his new frontier for Star Trek will be swear-laden (“Oh yeah!”), and that it will be R-rated if he steps behind the camera. “It’s an R-rated movie,” he said. “If I do it, it’ll be R-rated.” As for the latest stage of the project, the filmmaker said: “There’s a script that exists for it now. I need to weigh in on it, but I haven’t been able to do that yet.” When Once Upon A Time In Hollywood hits the big screen later this summer, it sounds like QT could be setting off at Warp speed into cosmic science fiction.
Only time will tell just how adult the new Trek will be, but surely the headlines should be that Star Trek is coming back to the bigscreen with an Oscar winning director at the helm.
